The role has been elevated from the previous position of senior vice president of brand marketing and communications, which was held by Maureen Sullivan. She was moved to head up all business operations for the company’s women and lifestyle-focused websites in June.

Hunt will oversee AOL’s global communications strategy, which includes social media, CSR and corporate events, as well as the company’s global brand development, partnerships and consumer marketing campaigns. She will report into Tim Armstrong, AOL’s chairman and CEO.

AOL embarked on a restructure of its business operations in December last year as it looks to execute a more partnership and content-led strategy, following its acquisition of several businesses such as the Huffington Post, TechCrunch and Go Viral.

This resulted in the departure of AOL’s top European marketer Sarah Gavin and several other roles cut across the business.

At Thomson Reuters, Hunt was responsible for brand, PR, advertising and digital social media for the company’s financial services and news businesses.

She has also held high profile PR roles at IBM and the Financial Times.
