Yum! Brands, which operates in 117 countries, is also hoping to roll out similar degree programmes overseas within the next few years.

James Watts, HR director for Yum! Brands, told Marketing Week, that the restaurant chain will also “definitely” look to introduce MBA courses, global MBAs and Masters degrees in coming years.

The move is part of Yum!’s efforts to improve its brand’s reputations as employers and position itself as “a leader in training and development”.

McDonald’s already offers a two-year foundation degree in business management accredited by Manchester Metropolitan University.

Online retailer Amazon has also introduced training grants in a bid to improve its brand reputation as an employer after criticism over practices in its warehouses. It will offer up to $8,000 to fund engineering, computing and healthcare training.
