Facebook hunts for Parfect replacement

Facebook is scrambling to find a replacement for UK sales head David Parfect, who is transferring to the company’s Austin, Texas office.

Parfect joined Facebook in 2008 as part of its UK launch team and in that time has been responsible for educating advertisers and agencies on how brands can utilise Facebook to grow their businesses.

Prior to joining Facebook, Parfect worked at a number of media agencies in both the UK and the US.

He will transfer to the Austin office, which opened in 2010, in the coming weeks. A Facebook spokeswoman was not able to provide Marketing Week with more details about his new role or the exact date he will make the move.

Parfect currently works alongside Facebook’s other head of sales, Ed Couchman, the former Channel 4 commercial controller who joined the company earlier this year.

They both report into UK commercial director Stephen Haines, who is thought to be a front-runner for the newly created UK managing director position.

The new recruit will also report into Haines.

A job ad for the role says the new head of sales will need to be a “strong, experienced leader” who can build senior executive relationships to help penetrate large organisations to support Facebook’s ad revenue growth.

Advertising represented 84 per cent of Facebook’s $1.18bn (£1.1bn) revenue generated in the three months to 30 June, an increase of 28 per cent year on year.

Facebook is due to report its third quarter financials on 23 October.
