Ads highlight a range of limited edition festive food and party ranges including mini beef sliders, mini lobster and prawn cakes, crispy prawn and asparagus balls and posh profiteroles.

M&S is also promoting a three for two offer on selected festive food.

The ad is soundtrack by an instrumental version of Rod Stewart’s ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ with a voice over by actor Matthew Macfayden.

The “foodie” ads break tonight (28 November) and will run until 9 December.

They follow M&S’s main festive ad campaign, which features five different scenes to showcase different product ranges and is set to five different music soundtracks.

Tracks include Lady Marmalade, Jean Knight’s Mr Big Stuff, Kool & the Gang’s Celebration and INXS’s I Need You Tonight.

M&S’s festive ads outdo rival John Lewis’ Christmas adverts for converting viewers into shoppers, according to a study carried out by Vision Critical.
