London & Partners completes marketing restructure

London & Partners, the body set up by Mayor of London Boris Johnson to promote the capital, has created a new brand marketer role and recruited Oxfam’s’ communication chief.

London&Partners has restructured as it builds on the capital’s Olympic legacy.

The new role is director of strategy, brand and communications and is being taken up by Chris Gottlieb, who is a former BBC marketing director and has worked at Thomson Holidays and advertising agency JWT.

He will be overseeing a number of different departments within London & Partners, including strategy, insight & propositions, communications and brand teams.

The not-for-profit body is looking to build on the attention the capital received this year thanks to the London Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee to drive business investment and tourism.

The role sits alongside the recently created director of consumer marketing and digital position, held by Julie Chappell. Both incumbents report to CEO Gordon Innes.

Previously all these responsibilities rested with former marketing and communications director Martine Ainsworth-Wells.

Innes says: “There is huge potential for London in the coming months and years to build on the successes of 2012. This new role will develop a city-wide strategy to deliver the promotion of London’s great companies, events and individuals.”

Gottlieb has only been with Oxfam for seven months and joins London & Partners in January.
