Bednash, who previously held senior roles at ad agencies RG/A and Mindshare, will work alongside Steve Vranakis, the executive creative director of Google Creative Lab.

Google declined to comment on the appointment.

Meanwhile, Google has announced its video-sharing site YouTube now has more than a billion unique users every month and that nearly one out of every two internet users visit the site.

Yesterday (20 March) Unilever announced its Simple Spotless Skin brand’s going to be the exclusive UK sponsor of Simon Cowell’s ‘The You Generation’ channel on YouTube.

The sponsorship deal was brokered by Mindshare with the brand gaining exposure via pre-roll and in-stream banner ads around the online talent search that will be aired exclusively on the channel (see video below).
