Marketing Week Engage Awards: The magnificent winners

‘Gunslingers’ from the shortlisted brands in this year’s Marketing Week Engage Awards 2013 fought to the last to take home one of the coveted trophies.

Sainsbury’s has carried off the laurels as Brand of the Year at the Marketing Week Engage Awards 2013, in association with YouGov.

The retailer hoisted its trophy at a gala awards evening at London’s Grosvenor House on Tuesday evening (21 May). Representatives from clients, agencies and suppliers of all kinds gathered to celebrate the winning brands, chosen by the judging panel for their creativity, innovation, insight and, of course, measurable results.

Sainsbury’s triumphed over some very close competition to take the award. The brands on the shortlist all achieved a noticeable shift in key metrics, as measured by YouGov’s BrandIndex, with the final decision on the winner taken by the Engage Awards judging panel.

Other awards handed out at the event, hosted by television presenter Graham Norton, included Brand Innovator of the Year in association with Reckitt Benckiser, won by Asos, and the new category Senior Marketer of the Year, in association with Adobe, which was won by John Bernard, director of global marketing at Mozilla.

The fiercely fought battle for Agency of the Year was won by AMV BBDO, which convinced the judges of the high calibre of its work for clients from a variety of sectors.

Congratulations also go to the Engage Awards 2013 Rising Star, Sarah Bulling, product communications manager at LV=.

The evening included entertainment from Little Nikki, courtesy of entertainment partnerships agency 8lbs and the raffle – in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust – raised hundreds of pounds thanks to prize contributions from AEG Europe and The O2, British Airways, InterContinental Hotels Group, Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Snozone, Elemis, Alexon and Charlotte & Co.

Pictures from our awards evening will be published in next week’s issue and on our website.
