JustGiving marketer takes top eHarmony marketing job

JustGiving marketer Romain Bertrand has been appointed as UK marketing director at eHarmony.

Bertrand, who was a contender for this year’s Marketing Week Engage Award Senior Marketer of the Year, will spearhead eHarmony’s efforts to carve a greater share of the £2bn online dating market in the UK.

He is tasked with using data driven marketing to acquire new customers and improve its services including its mobile platform. He has also previously worked for Skype and PhotoBox.

Bertrand replaces Ottokar Rosenberger former vice president of international at the dating site, who was the company’s top marketer. Rosenberger left in December. Shortly after, UK country manager Bryn Snelson also left the company. 

EHarmony ran a TV ad campaign over the festive period mirroring the style of its ads in the US.

Jason Chuck, vice president of eHarmony International, says: “We’re a data driven business both in terms of how we market to our customers and the service that we offer, making Romain the perfect choice to lead our marketing efforts. He will be focusing his efforts on growing brand awareness and user numbers for eHarmony in the UK, through further investments in brand building, multichannel customer acquisition and constantly improving our user experience, including on mobile.”

The dating site launched in the UK five years ago after launching in the US in 2000. It claims to have contributed to ore than 11,000 marriages in the UK during that time. It claims to have 2.5 million registered users.
