Yahoo revealed mixed financial results earlier this week. Profit was up sharply to $335m in the second quarter from $228m a year ago, driven largely be its 20 per cent stake in Chinese internet company Alibaba. Revenue from display and search advertising, however, fell 7 per cent.

Minimum alcohol price plan shelved

The Government has shelved plans to introduce a minimum price for alcohol across England and Wales, claiming there is not enough evidence it would be “effective” in curbing excessive drinking.

The UK’s biggest online retailers – including Amazon, Argos and Tesco – are set to reward their advocates with cash for sharing product recommendations with their friends in a move that could see them shifting away from other affiliate schemes.
