Ebay UK has appointed former BSkyB director Sarah Calcott to lead marketing in the region following the departure of previous UK marketing director Amanda Metcalfe.

Calcott will be responsible for attracting, engaging and retaining shoppers to the website, which is currently in the process of rolling out its new Pinterest-style redesign across Europe.

She will also oversee eBay Fashion’s sponsorship activation for London Fashion Week, which takes place next month.

Calcott will report into eBay’s European vice president of marketing Alex Von Schirmeister. Her role directly replaces that of the company’s first ever UK and Ireland marketing director Amanda Metcalfe who has now left the company, although eBay could not provide further details about whether she left with a job to go to.

Calcott joined eBay in 2012 as director of programme delivery for Europe to provide support for the peak trading system.

Prior to that she spent seven years at BSkyB in various director level roles, ranging from marketing operations director to director of strategic programme delivery.
