Daisley now becomes UK country manager with overall responsibility for all the micro-blogging site’s marketing, sales and operations in the region. It is understood his previous role will not be directly replaced.
Wang became Twitter’s first employee to relocate from the US to London in May. Since then he has also been advising on the expansion of Twitter’s sales support teams across the rest of Europe, including helping open up offices in the Netherlands, Spain and France.
Wang came under the global media spotlight earlier this year when women on the site campaigned for Twitter to do more to tackle abusive tweets. Alongside Twitter’s senior director of trust and safety Del Harvey, Wang fired up Twitter’s crisis communications strategy, which involved the swift rollout of a new report button and hiring additional staff to the teams that deal with abuse on the site.
Twitter says Wang will take some time once he is back to figure out what his next role at Twitter will be.
Daisley joined Twitter from Google’s YouTube early December 2012. Prior to Google he was digital sales director at Bauer Advertising, formerly Emap, where he ran its digital business.
Elsewhere, Twitter has made several recent additions to the UK team. This includes poaching the Guardian’s digital development editor Joanna Geary to become its news partnerships manager, appointing former BBC international editor Alex Trickett as sports partnership manager and recruiting former Syco head of digital Theo Luke to launch the company’s TV partnership programme Twitter Amplify across Europe and the Middle East.
Twitter says it currently has 15 million monthly active users in the UK.
