The drama around the start of the football season pushed gamers in their droves to catch an early glimpse of the latest FIFA release on the social network. The Wieden+Kennedy and Mediacom created ad features mega-stars Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale.
2. Tesco / Blinkbox – Star Trek teleportation stuns shoppers
Tesco’s online video service duped shoppers last month with a quirky rift on the Star Trek teleportation device. The brand, in partnership with Taylor Herring and Arena, cheekily roped in identical twins for the stunt and then tricked shoppers into thinking one person was being teleported around Westfield shopping centre.
3. Nike – Just Do It: Endless Possibilities
Nike’s advert, put together by Wieden+Kennedy and Mindshare, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its iconic “Just Do It” logo has struck a chord with fans. The start-studded ad, featuring the likes of Bradley Cooper and Serena Williams, is the start of the wider push to introduce the slogan to a new generation of fans.
4. Tesco / Blinkbox – Iron Man Balloon Costume
To tap into the buzz around the digital release of Iron Man 3, Blinkbox, partnering with Taylor Herring and Arena agan, brought in ballon artist Jeff Wright to produce the infamous suit of armour using 500 balloons or less.
5. Tesco Mobile – The Call
The retailer’s quirky advertising for its mobile service went into reality-TV mode last month when it challenged five competition winners to convince a friend why they should sign up to the service for the chance to win a new phone. The Jam and Initiative created ad aims to highlight whether people take situations at face value or are naturally suspicious of too good to be true offers.
