YouTube’s most watched ads in October

Playstation appears to have the edge on Microsoft’s Xbox as the impending ‘console wars’ heat up ahead of Xmas. Sony’s console brand tops October’s YouTube ‘most watched ads*’ chart, as Microsoft’s slot to promote its Xbox One claims seventh spot.

1. PlayStation: For The Players Since 1995

Harking back to the 1990s, when the iconic console was launched, the three minute-plus video opens with images evocative of the time, such as the cover of Blur’s Britpop classic Parklife. It then continues in a similar vein demonstrating how the Playstation has been constant in contemporary culture in the proceeding 18 years.

2. SpecsSavers: Should’ve gone to Specsavers ‘Workout’ #shgts

Creative Agency:In House

Media Agency: MGOMD

SpecSavers clearly abides by the mantra: ‘If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it’. Its latest ad highlighs the potential social pitfalls of failing to address short sightedness and claims the second spot in this month’s chart.

3.KLM:  Disney’s Planes: spectacular pre-screening on board of a KLM plane

Creative Agency: Tribal DDB

KLM goes for the kids’ vote with this execution. The two-minute execution depicts the in-flight entertainment prowess of the Dutch airline, as a class of young school children are treated to an in-flight screening of a Disney movie.

4. Air New Zealand: Betty White – Safety Old School Style #airnzsafetyvideo

Creative Agency: TRUE

No. 4 is another offering from an airline industry. This time it’s a light-hearted recreation of an in-flight safety video, with help from The Golden Girl’s Betty (seriously) fusing on-board safety with entertainment “old school style”.

5. Paddy Power: New Paddy Power Taser video, too shocking for TV! Better get your lawyer Joey!

Creative Agency: In House

Media Agency: M2M

Always eager to court controversy and make light of trends in contemporary sports and culture, the roguish Irish bookmaker this time proposes that footballers ‘taser’ rival players for minor infringements on the rules of the game, with the slot featuring none other than footballing bad boy Joey Barton.

6. Amazing Phil: EUROPEAN MEET-UP ADVENTURE!
