Her LinkedIn profile states that she left Morrisons in September to work as a director at Invisible Stuff, which works with brands, retailers, technology companies and startups engaged in omnichannel retail. Morrisons is not commenting on her departure.

Veit’s appointment was seen as pivotal to Morrisons’ multichannel development following her high-profile achievements at M&S.

Her departure comes at a critical time for Morrisons as it moves forward with plans to introduce online grocery services. It has inked a deal with Ocado and will launch a limited online shop and delivery service in January 2014, with a rollout to half of the UK expected by the end of the year.

While at Morrisons, Veit was responsible for its mobile website, applications and payments, as well as user experience and web design for all Kiddicare and Morrisons.com websites, in-store multichannel and connected applications. At M&S Veit headed up research and development of mobile channels and was heavily involved with creating the M&S Smart TV app.

Like-for-like sales at the supermarket chain fell 2.4 per cent year on year in the three months to 3 November and were down 1.6 per cent in the first half.
