Starbucks is losing vice president of marketing and category for EMEA Danielle Crook a little more than a year since poaching her from Vodafone with UK and Ireland brand chief Ian Cranna tasked to handle her responsibilities in the interim.

Crook is to leave the business next February to move to California with her partner Simon Davies, who has been promoted to the role of Microsoft’s general manager after a stint heading up its UK sales operations. It is not yet known if Crook has a job to go to.

At Starbucks, she oversaw its largest-ever investment in food in the UK earlier this year. Crook also helped steer the brand as it expanded into 11 new markets throughout 2013 including Germany and Hong Kong.

Her departure comes just 13 months after she was appointed to the new role from Vodafone where she was UK marketing director. She was previously European brand director at Gap.

Starbucks’ UK and Ireland marketing boss Ian Cranna will assume Crook’s responsibilities in the interim. He will head up the brand’s marketing strategy across the 33 countries and 2,000 stores the company operates in Europe and will report into Kris Engskov, president for the EMEA region.
