EE has unveiled the first Gold Spot to carry its name, a spoof of noughties viral “Numa”.

The ad, which launches in cinemas 1 March, shows ‘Carl’ performing the Numa Numa dance – made famous by YouTube star Gary Broslma in 2004 – after being brought out of solitary confinement in a South African prison.

The Saatchi & Saatchi London created spots end with the line ‘The Internet Made More Epic by 4GEE’.

It marks a departure from the previous Orange Gold Spots featuring Hollywood stars and is the first spot to be branded EE, Orange’s parent and 4G network.

The Numa spot is the first in a series of five takes on internet virals planned. Future ads, which will be released every two months, include spoofs of ‘Goats Screaming Like Humans’  and ‘Charlie Bit My Finger’.
