Britvic steps up marketing expansion

Britvic is stepping up expansion of its senior marketing team as it looks to support its ambitious growth plans.

Britvic Brands
Jonathan Gatward, Britvic Great Britain marketing director, is to leave the company later this year.

The Robinson’s owner is recruiting to fill several roles in its strategic marketing and innovation team including its first director of consumer planning. The post holder will oversee the drinks maker’s insight efforts.

The firm has created several senior marketing roles this year already. Its top UK marketer Jonathan Gatward has been handed a brief to grow sales of its adult soft drinks brands across the world as well as extending established brands such as J20 into new occasions through NPD.

It also hired Matthew Barwell as its first chief marketing officer earlier this year.

The hiring spree comes ahead of international expansion of brands such as for Fruit Shoot, Robinsons and Teisseire in Spain and the US through partnership, franchise or licencing.

It stated in its annual report last year that “resources and capability will be matched with growth opportunities”.

Britvic appears to have been emboldened by its decision to reject the merger with AG Barr last year. Sales have improved since. Britvic Group revenue rose 4.1 per cent year on year to £329.5m and in its latest quarter lifted by a 4.6 per cent spike in its biggest GB market.
