As per previous iPhone TV ads, the smartphones are the actual stars of the spots, but the duo provide voiceovers and a song – in the form of humming the theme to 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The ads were unveiled last night (9 September) at Apple’s launch event, where it revealed its new flagship smartphones, alongside its first wearable tech device, the Apple Watch.

The two handsets are both larger than previous models and stand-out new features include Apple Pay – Apple’s first foray into NFC mobile contactless payments – a new barometer sensor that can track elevation so users can receive credit on their health apps for taking the stairs and better battery life.
