Asda appoints Claire Harrison-Church as VP of marketing

Harrison-Church, who is currently category business unit director at Premier Foods and formerly of Sainsbury’s and Unilever, will replace departing marketing director Chris McDonough

Asda’s new-look marketing team will be run by Barry Williams and deputised by Harrison-Church

The appointment of Harrison-Church will bring a “wealth of retail experience” to Asda, according to Barry Williams, who is set to replace current marketing chief Steve Smith as chief customer officer.

“I am hugely excited to welcome Claire to Asda,” said Williams.

“Claire’s wealth of experience across the retail industry and marketing will be well placed within the Asda family. She will be leading a hugely skilled and professional team during an exciting period in our business and I look forward to her making her mark with us and our customers.”

Harrison-Church said she is looking forward to taking on the role and strengthening Asda’s market position.

“I’m delighted to be joining Asda,” she said. “The Asda brand is very well-placed in the market and I look forward to working with the marketing team to strengthen its position.”

She joins Lizzy Mazzy, vice president of customer relations, in assisting Barry Williams, who will lead Asda’s new-look marketing team.

Harrison-Church will focus on marketing strategy and collateral while Mazzy will head up customer insight. Craig Bonnar will continue in his current role of VP of proposition. He will be focused on developing Asda’s new store formats as it aims to improve its store share across London and the south east.
