The social platform revealed the Ad Manager app on its company blog today (24 Feb), which it claims will allow small or medium businesses to manage and create Facebook ads on the go.
Facebook claims that the tool will allow marketers to view ad results, create and edit ads, get notifications and keep track of spending.
Ciaran Quilty, SME regional director EMEA, told Marketing Week: “The decision to create an app for our ad manager has been largely due to demand from SME’s. We heard from small and medium sized businesses that they want the tools to be more mobile friendly.”
Quilty added that the new app arrives as a result of the success of the Ads Manager mobile website released in July 2014, which saw a growth of 750, 000 users on the device throughout the year.
The app will make Facebook’s ad platform easier to access and more effective, helping businesses that do not have as many resources, according to Quilty.
Two million businesses are investing in Facebook every month to grow their clientele according to a company report, this was measured by the amount of businesses that had advertised on the platform in the past 28 days. The majority of these businesses are SMEs.
Facebook has been looking to serve its small to medium sized businesses for some time. The brand has pushed the image of Facebook as a source of economic growth and creator of new jobs this year. This was the main thread of a Deloitte report published in January, which revealed that Facebook’s economic impact equates to $227bn.
“[SME’s] are a community that we want to invest a lot more in,” says Quilty.
The Ad Manager app is available for iOS, but an Android app will follow later in the year.
