Mark Ritson to debate the future of brand valuation at the Festival of Marketing

Marketing Week columnist Mark Ritson will take to the stage at the Festival of Marketing as representatives of the major brand valuation companies come together for the first time to debate the future of brand valuation and decide whether it is ‘brilliant or bullshit’.

The talk, titled ‘Brand Valuation is Brilliant / Bullshit – Debate and Delete as Applicable’ will take place on 11 November at 3.45pm. It will explore the nature of brand valuation and how it works, the impact it has had on the world of marketing and finance and the accuracy of brand valuation.

Ritson will be joined on stage by all three of the major global brand valuation companies – Interbrand, Brand Finance and Millward Brown. The speakers are:

  • Mike Rocha, Global Director, Brand Valuation, Interbrand
  • David Haigh, CEO and Founder, Brand Finance
  • Doreen Wang, Global Head of BrandZ, Millward Brown

The debate follows a number of columns written by Ritson for Marketing Week on brand valuation. The event is an opportunity to debate the role it plays in the marketing and branding industry.

Ritson has been a columnist at Marketing Week since 2010 and in that time has won the PPA’s Business Magazine Columnist of the Year award three times. He is an associate professor of marketing at Melbourne Business School.

The Festival of Marketing takes place at Tobacco Dock on 11 and 12 November. Aimed at celebrating the marketing industry, there will be more than 200 speakers across 12 stages.

The event will also host the Masters of Marketing awards. The deadline for the awards has been extended to the 23 September so there is still time to get submissions in.
