Male marketers earn 21% more than female counterparts

The gender pay gap persists across all levels of seniority in marketing, according to Marketing Week’s Career and Salary Survey 2015, with men earning 21% more than women on average – equivalent to an extra £7,298 each year.

Average salaries for male and female marketers

Looking specifically at marketing director level, men take home £79,683 while women pocket £61,507. Although the gap is smaller for roles lower down the managerial ladder men still earn more, with male brand managers earning £42,738 on average while women take home £39,166.

The lack of equal pay between the sexes could explain why a higher proportion of women (29%) are unhappy in their job compared to men (24%).
