PayPal makes Super Bowl debut to show off brand ‘confidence’

PayPal will run its first Super Bowl during the match on Sunday (7 February) as it seeks to prove it is one of the big global players in the financial services market.

The spot features a soundtrack from pop star Demi Lovato’s with her single ‘Confident’. Using the strapline ‘Move over Old Money. There’s a New Money in Town”, it alternates between “old money” – think cash and stockbrokers shouting – and the type of “new money” PayPal stands for – innovative technology and a diverse group of actors.

It is the start of a global campaign from PayPal which aims to show how it is disrupting the financial services industry. It claims to have 180 million active accounts globally.
