Nike, Tesco and OnePlus: The top 10 YouTube ads in June

From Cristiano Ronaldo having to learn to play football all over again to Tesco making fathers cry, here are the top 10 YouTube ads for June.

1. Nike Football – The Switch ft. Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane, Anthony Martial & More

Just in time for the UEFA European Championship, Nike released a five-minute video called ‘The Switch’, featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and a young boy from the UK. In an unfortunate incident at a football game they wake up to find they have switched bodies, leading to Ronaldo having to ‘start all over again’. Judging by the impressive 51 million views it racked up, Nike’s short film captivated football fans the world over.

Agency: Wieden & Kennedy

2. YouTube – #ProudToBe: Coming Together to Celebrate Identity

In early June, a homophobic terrorist attack shocked Orlando, after an American security guard killed 49 people and wounded 53 inside a gay nightclub. In response, YouTube decided to create a video championing the LGBT community and urging its users to “come together”, using some of its most popular and influential vloggers to spread the message.

Agency: Anomaly New York

3. OnePlus – OnePlus 3: A day’s power in half an hour

If there’s one thing the internet doesn’t seem to get enough of, it’s slick videos featuring the latest mobile innovations. With that in mind, it’s not surprising OnePlus’s ad introducing its newest mobile device hit home with almost three million viewers. The brand is keen to take on the mobile giants and has previously preferred word-of-mouth marketing – could this ad signify a change in strategy?

Agency: Seventy and OnePlus

4. Tesco – Tesco Father’s Day: Introducing Tannoy Takeover

This Father’s Day, Tesco decided to go down a more emotional route. It allowed numerous customers to record a personalised message and play it over the intercom while shopping with their fathers in-store. The result, as expected, involved plenty of (happy) tears.

Agency: BBH

5. Sennheiser – Robin Schulz feat. Nico Santos: More than a friend [exclusive song]

‘Traditional 30-second ads are so passé’, is what German audio company Sennheiser must have thought. Instead of pushing out a video showcasing its latest headphones, it decided to work with DJ Robin Schulz to produce its very own song and music video. An interesting tactic, but one that has seemingly paid off – the video has reached over one million fans.

6. Xbox – Xbox One S

7. ME by Melia Hotels – The Summer Scene

8. Clash of Clans – Best Friends

9. Volvo – Made by Sweden: ”Epilogue” feat. Zlatan Ibrahimović

Agency: Forsman & Bodenfors

10. PorscheCourage changes everything: The new Panamera is coming.
