The Marketing Academy is strengthening its team with four new appointments as it looks to develop its current programme and continue to expand globally. The new roles include an international development director, leader of The Marketing Academy Foundation, head of community events and chairman of the alumni.
The Marketing Academy aims to develop leadership capability in talented marketers. It runs two main programmes – the ‘scholarship’ scheme open to the next generation of marketing leaders and the ‘fellowship’ open to top marketers looking to take the next step to become a CEO. Marketing Week is one of the partners.
International development director
Oli Barrett has been appointed to the position of international development director. In the newly appointed roll, Barrett will support, promote and develop the Marketing Academy’s activities around the world, including new programmes planned in the USA, Middle East and Asia. He is a co-founder of start up Britain and co-founded social enterprise Cospa, Tenner and SpeedNetwork the Globe.
The Marketing Academy Foundation leader
Daryl Fielding will head up The Marketing Academy’s newly formed charitable foundation, which is set to open at the start of 2017. Fielding has previously worked for Vodafone, Mondelez and Ogilvy and has charity trustee experience. She will develop the Marketing Academy’s apprenticeship programme and will build a platform to provide young people with access to a career in marketing, media or advertising.
Head of community events
Leonie Paris has been appointed head of community events and will manage learning events across all the Academy’s programmes, lectures, boot camps and masterclasses, supporting speakers and mentors. She is an events organiser who has worked with Unilever and D&AD.
Kathryn Marriott will be chairman of alumni for the academy in a voluntary capacity. An alumni of the scholarship programme herself, Marriott is head of commercial marketing at Global, the media and entertainment group. In her new role she will oversee a programme of activities designed for the 268 alumni of the scholarship programme.
