TUI’s marketing boss Jeremy Ellis to leave after 27 years

Ellis plans to take some time off having led the marketing division for UK and Ireland since 2011 and playing a key role in the Thomson to TUI re-brand.

Jeremy Ellis, TUI’s marketing and customer experience director, is leaving the business after 27 years.

Ellis is being replaced by Katie McAlister who will join as chief marketing officer from 1 June although she retains responsibility for customer experience. McAlister is currently digital director and is also a long-time TUI employee, having been with the company for 19 years.

Ellis has led the marketing division since 2011 and been behind many of the brand’s award-winning campaigns including Simon the Ogre and Miles the Bear. Most recently he was responsible for the brand refresh of First Choice and led the 2017 re-brand of Thompson to TUI.

Ellis joined the company as a graduate in 1991 and quickly rose through the ranks, leading the launch of the first ever basic ‘no-frills’ holiday product to be sold online within his first four years.

Ellis says: “I feel very lucky to have had such a long and varied career in TUI. It’s a fantastic business with fantastic people in a fantastic industry and I’ve learnt so much from my 27-year tenure. Leaving TUI will be hard as the business goes from strength to strength, but I know this is the right decision for me.”

Ellis currently has no future plans beyond taking time off.

    I’m not surprised he needs some time off – if he graduated in 1995 he has managed to fit 27 years of work into 23 years…..he must be knackered!

    Apologies he actually graduated in 1991. We’ve changed that in the story and thanks for pointing it out.
