Cadbury, YouTube, Converse : The top 10 YouTube ads in July

YouTube’s ad for YouTube Music topped the video rankings in July with the help of Childish Gambino, Sinnead O’Connor, Skepta, Queen and The Beatles.

1. YouTube Music: Open the world of music. It’s all here

Stars including Childish Gambino, Sinnead O’Connor, Skepta, Queen and The Beatles – also somebody’s perfect dinner guest scenario – came together in a 75-second video montage to promote YouTube’s new music streaming service (cryptically named YouTube Music) which over the last month has reached almost 4 million views. What exactly is music then, according to YouTube? It’s what your mind and body demands, it’s inspiration, it’s the way you feel and the “soundtrack of fresh perspective”. It’s also apparently a sound, in case you didn’t know.

2. Converse: All the stories are true

Have you ever worn sneakers to an awards show? Well this is why we’re all currently sat at our desks while Stranger Things star Millie Bobbie Brown is wearing sneakers to awards shows. At least Converse is dishing out some solid advice while leaving scuff marks on the dash board: wear what you feel comfortable in; don’t expect people to wear tutus; and shave your hair off and prove them wrong. And most importantly, remember: it’s not illegal to wear Converse to an awards show.

Who is John Boyega? Thankfully, Google’s trusty voice assistant is about to tell us. An English actor, it says, who began his acting career playing a leopard in his primary school play. John smiles and says ‘yeah, that’s right, that’s me’, and that’s the end of that one.

tldr; He is in Star Wars. So he’s quite famous.

4. Cadbury: Cadbury Inventor – Go madbury – UK

In times of darkness – when Trump is president, Brexit is Brexit and Boris Johnson still doesn’t know when to shut up – sometimes you’ve just got to put your best purple eye shadow and nail varnish on, smash some melons, sieve some flour, eat jelly worms, put basil leaves in chocolate mousse and go mad(bury). All in honour of the brand’s new campaign to get the British people to create their own chocolate bar.

5. Tinder: J.Lo Tinder Takeover – Swipe Sessions – Tinder

Is there anything this woman can’t do? She sings, she plans weddings, and now Jennifer Lopez is advising people in the world of disposable dating. In this video for Tinder, Brook’s looking for a MAN – you know, one that can chop wood and stuff. Thankfully, JLo is there to do some swiping and find out what Brooke really needs: which leads her to a guy that offers good vibes and a solid two step.

Thanks JLo. But at the end of the day, we all know you’re just a regular girl from the block.
