Direct Line promotes Mark Evans to help accelerate digital transformation

In his new role as MD of marketing and digital, Evans will head up all digital capabilities in addition to his ongoing responsibilities in marketing.

Mark EvansDirect Line’s marketing director Mark Evans has been promoted to a new role of managing director of marketing and digital, as part of a series of structural changes within the business.

In addition to leading the charge on Direct Line’s marketing across all platforms, Evans will now manage all digital capabilities in a bid to ensure the insurance group is keeping up with the fast-moving digital world.

Evans has served as Direct Line’s marketing director since 2012 and is one of three appointments to Direct Line’s executive committee. He is joined by Kate Syred, managing director of household and partnerships, and Gus Park, currently managing director of motor who will become managing director of motor, pricing and underwriting.

“2019 is a pivotal year in our journey, as we move from the development phase of the various platforms, to integrating them into our business and changing the way we work so we can deliver an end to end customer experience,” Penny James, CEO of Direct Line Group says.

“The new appointments we are making will help us to simplify our operating model and increase the speed and agility with which we work. Together with the investments we are making in technology, I am confident that we can deliver a step-change in our capability and efficiency with the objective of helping us to grow our profitability.”

The reshuffle is part of a reorganisation of senior management responsibilities as the group looks to continue to transform the way it delivers end-to-end customer experience.
