Clemmow Hornby Inge (CHI) has been appointed to handle the £2m advertising account for Big Yellow Self Storage following a three-way pitch.
The agency is thought to have beaten Doner Cardwell Hawkins (DCH), which has worked with Big Yellow in the past, and one unnamed agency to win the business.
Big Yellow claims to be the UK’s fastest-growing self-storage company and has more than 40 outlets nationwide. CHI has been appointed to create an above-the-line campaign that will launch this spring and include TV, print and online work.
Big Yellow Group chief executive Jimmy Gibson confirms CHI’s appointment and says the new campaign will “reinforce our position as the only brand of choice in the self-storage market”.
The pitch was called last year and overseen by the company’s marketing director Rob Strachan. CHI was believed to be the frontrunner because of its links to David Ross, Big Yellow’s deputy chairman and co-founder of Carphone Warehouse, CHI’s founding client.
Big Yellow appointed DCH to develop its first above-the-line advertising campaign in 2002. The company also ran sponsorship idents created by Adlab around ITV’s London’s Hottest Properties in 2004.
Big Yellow competes against companies such as Access Storage, Shurguard UK and Lok’n Store.
