A sweet way to keep staff
If you’ve ever wondered what the secret of staff morale was, look no further than a bit of something sweet on a midweek afternoon.
Customer publishing agency August Media surveyed its staff recently to find out their favourite perk.
It seems that gym memberships, bonuses and the like cut no ice at the year-old company that produces contract magazines for clients that include IKEA, Strutt & Parker and City & Guilds.
The workers’ best benefit was, in fact, the free bar of chocolate they are given every Wednesday afternoon.
The Dairy is unsure whether this is a reflection on the level of other perks on offer or proof of a sweet-toothed workforce, but since setting up last year, August has lost no staff and has actually doubled in size.
