Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO has won the £12m advertising business for Heinz. The agency won the account after a four-way pitch against Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Lowe and Grey. It is understood that DDB London pulled out of the review at an earlier stage.

The review, overseen by marketing director Suzanne Douglas, was kicked off in June just seven months after McCann Erickson won the account in a previous pitch. The review was prompted by changes at McCann Worldgroup, which led to the emergence of a conflict with McCann’s Nestl™ business.

AMV lost out to McCann in the previous pitch, which also included incumbent Beattie McGuinness Bungay Its former roster agencies were WCRS and Leo Burnett both of which were knocked out in the first round.

It does not affect the Heinz-owned Amoy business, which is handled by M&C Saatchi, or Vizeum, which handles the media planning and buying.
