Activision looks for marketing director

ActivisionScott Morrison, the marketing director for UK and Europe at Activision, is leaving the video games publisher to go travelling. The US company is now seeking a replacement for him.

His departure comes as the UK and European divisions are undergoing a restructure led by senior vice-president of European publishing Joerg Trovain, who took over the role earlier this year. It is seeking over 40 new staff across all departments including brand marketers.

Morrison joined Activision in 2005 after leaving Levi-Strauss, where he was marketing manager. He joined the jeans brand from youth agency Slice, where he had worked on a range of brands, including Microsoft Xbox.

Trovain, who was previously senior vice-president of sales and marketing at German telecoms company GN Netcom, has been tasked with reshaping the business after its move into next-generation gaming.

It is hoped that the restructure will help the company to boost it presence in the European market. Last month, it reported sales of $1.5bn (£750m) for the year to March 31, with profits up by more than 50% to $85m (£42m).

The company has had recent success with its Guitar Hero title and this week announced an exclusive deal with Gibson Guitars to feature its instruments in its Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock title. It has announced a slew of title releases including games based on the forthcoming Transformers movie.
