The Advertising Association (AA) has partnered with Speakers For Schools and committed 50 marketing leaders to speak as part of the charity’s programme to offer free talks to students at schools and colleges.

Marketing leaders will take part in Speakers for Schools’ initiative

Speakers already confirmed include Procter & Gamble’s corporate marketing director Roisin Donnelly, Unilever’s executive vice president for the UK and Ireland Amanda Sourry and Google vice president Matt Brittin. The AA is now challenging more names from across advertising agencies, media and brands to take part in the initiative.

The move is part of plans by the AA to boost recognition of the role advertising and marketing play in the UK economy and encourage people to join. A report last year by the AA and Deloitte found that the industry employs more than 550,000 people.

Tim Lefroy, the AA’s chief executive, says: “This is good for young people and good for our businesses. UK advertising is full of opportunity but to realise it, we must connect with – and recruit from – society as widely as possible.

Speakers are asked to volunteer their time for one talk per year.
