Advertising Association appoints Tim Lefroy as chief executive

The Advertising Association has unveiled Tim Lefroy as its chief executive to replace Baroness Peta Buscombe.

Lefoy (pictured) will step down from his role as chief executive of the change management consultancy Radical Communications to take up the Advertising Association position on May 5.

Buscombe is to join the Press Complaints Commission as chairman in April and replaces Sir Christopher Mayer.

Lefoy has extensive experience across all parts of the communications world. He worked in marketing management at Cadbury and Gillette before moving over to the agency side and became CEO of Young and Rubicam in the UK.

His consulting work at Radical ranged from turnaround projects to privatisation with clients from Channel 4 to GSK and the Ministry of Defence.

In addition Lefroy is an independent director of ATVOD (Association for Television on Demand) and a member of the Pensions Reform Group.

Mark Lund chairman of the Advertising Association says: “We’re delighted that Tim is joining the Advertising Association to continue the great momentum that Peta Buscombe has created over the last two years. Tim has experience in, and support from, all over the industry, and we can look forward to a continuing high profile and an effective promotion and protection of the business.”

Buscombe announced her departure in November. She held the role for just over two years and was previously the Shadow Minister for Education and Skills in the House of Lords
