The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Locog) has started the search for an agency to overhaul its flagship website for London 2012 as it gears up to develop its online offering.
Companies are being invited to pitch for the project to both rebuild and redesign the website, www.london2012.com, with initial submissions expected by December 13.
The process will involve a live online conference for parties involved in the tender, ahead of a relaunch early next year.
The committee has also unveiled plans to create a roster of "preferred partners" that will be invited to bid for future contracts to "supply a variety of new media services" from next year.
The London 2012 website will serve Locog and the Olympic Delivery Authority in the build up to, and during, the games.
London 2012 head of new media Alex Balfour says the site forms an integral part of its communications strategy, with the digital content enabling it to both define London 2012 and engage with the broader public through features such as the recently launched official blog "Work in Progress".
In November, the International Olympic Committee shortlisted four agencies to pitch for its integrated global marketing campaign including Havas, Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi and United, following a review in October.
