Air Miles boss departs for Safeway loyalty job

Air Miles marketing director Stephen Taylor has left the travel incentive company to join Safeway and take a lead role in its loyalty card programme.

Taylor will report directly to Safeway director of brand marketing Roger Ramsden. He will take the title of electronic relationship marketing controller and be closely involved in Safeway’s ABC loyalty card programme.

The supermarket will launch the card nationally from October 23. It will offer consumers one point for every 1 spent. Points can be used to redeem a discount on shopping bills, to receive free products or services from stores or go towards family day-outs.

Safeway says Taylor’s appointment emphasises its commitment towards developing customer relationships.

Taylor will be replaced at Air Miles by Judith Robinson. She has been with the company for 18 months, and was previously marketing manager. Robinson will oversee development of the 3.75 million-strong Air Miles database and build the relationship between Air Miles and collectors for the benefit of the company’s strategic partners such as NatWest Bank, British Airways, BT and Shell.
