Akzo Nobel head goes in divisional merger

One of the UK’s largest paint makers, Akzo Nobel, is merging its sales and marketing and ditching its marketing director Steve Duncan.

The company makes paint brands including Crown, Sandtex, Brolac and Macphersons as well as Crown Wallcoverings.

Akzo Nobel backs them with an advertising spend of about 4m.

Under the new structure, two directorships have been created: former Crown Berger trade director Stan Adams becomes sales and marketing director for retail paint and relief decorations.

While Nigel Yallop, ex-trade director for Akzo Nobel, is sales and marketing director for both Crown and Akzo Nobel trade divisions.

Alan Tarry moves from a sales role to become business development director responsible for exports, licensing and special UK projects.

Akzo Nobel formerly advertised through SP Lintas and Saatchi & Saatchi but appointed Man-chester-based agency BDH a few weeks ago.
