Alamo hunts Euro marketing chief

Alamo Rent a Car is setting up a European HQ and looking for someone to head its sales and marketing as it expands across the continent.

It is now firmly established in the UK and Germany, with 27 outlets in each country. According to vice-president sales and marketing Mike Batt, based at the company’s US head office in Fort Lauderdale, the company is to expand across Europe into countries such as Spain and France.

The European HQ, which will operate from the UK, is also recruiting a head of marketing to oversee advertising and promotions. Alamo appointed M&C Saatchi to its pan-European ad account in October.

Ron Denaro, who has been responsible for the European marketing role until now, will return to the US. Alamo has had a hard time financially in the US over the past year. But, according to Batt, it is encouraged by results in Europe and has identified “great potential”.

Holiday Autos is appointing Europcar Interrent’s former sales and marketing director, Brian Farrugia, as commercial director. Farrugia will work with sales and marketing director Tony Seaman.
