AMV scoops launch of Net insurance start-up Quoteferret

Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO has won the multi-million pound launch for dot-com start-up Quoteferret.

A subsidiary of Lloyds broker Newman Martin & Buchan, Quoteferret is designed to supply the best buildings, home contents, car and travel insurance quotes online.

Quoteferret chief executive Jason Light says: “We will offer products from a range of insurers.”

Designed to appeal to the mass market, Quoteferret is scheduled to launch in the autumn, backed by a major TV-led multimedia ad campaign. Media will be bought by AMV sister agency New PHD.

Sue Garrard, a board account director at AMV, says: “This business could shake up the domestic insurance market in the same way Direct Line did ten years ago.

“A more convenient and cost-effective medium, a market facing price rises, and a brand with a distinctive proposition encapsulated in its name are a potent list of ingredients.”

Other brokers already offer insurance quotes online. One – called Screentrade – guarantees the cheapest motor, home and travel insurance, or it will refund the difference.
