AN Digital poaches Adlink head to become group commercial director

Associated Northcliffe Digital (AN Digital) has poached Adlink managing director Andy Mitchell. He will join the company later this year in the new role of group commercial director.

The role has been created for Mitchell, who announced his departure from Adlink earlier this month. At AN Digital he will be responsible for driving commercial activities in digital display advertising, e-commerce and digital advertising operations and will report to managing director Andy Hart.

Mitchell joined Adlink last year and is a former managing director at AltaVista UK and DoubleClick UK.

AN Digital’s network reaches 27% of the UK and includes brands such as Mail Online, Findaproperty and Loopylove.

Meanwhile, parent company Associated Newspapers has created a new division that will advise clients on developing campaigns across its brands. It is currently recruiting a head for the division.

The creation of the division reflects a trend among media owners and media agencies towards offering integrated sales solutions.

Associated commercial director and managing director of Daily Mail Guy Zitter says the launch of the cross-platform unit is in response to demand. He adds: “It is about coming up with solutions across the portfolio. Someone, say, will come to us with £500,000 and want to know how best to spend it across the portfolio.”

Zitter claims the new unit will not change the roles of the group’s individual sales teams. He adds: “We will continue to sell in silos. This is merely an addition to our weaponry.”
