The award-winning designer behind some of Apple’s most iconic products that have changed the face of music and publishing, including the iPad, iPod and iPhone, is thought to be returning to the UK, according to The Sunday Times.

Apple’s success in the last decade has been largely down to its unique product design, user interface and integrated systems, overseen by Ive.

His value within the company means that a return to the UK would be unsustainable in maintaining his position, according to the report.

Speculation of Ive’s departure comes ahead of the launch of the second edition of the iPad, due out on Wednesday.
