Argos unveils revamped reward points

Argos is relaunching its Premier Points rewards programme in order to compete with rival loyalty schemes offered by the likes of Tesco and Boots.

As well as redeeming their points against purchases at Argos, customers will be able to use them to pay for holiday flights, hotel accommodation and entry into theme parks, museums or sporting events.

The retailer has redesigned the Premier Points logo, adding the strapline “Simply More…” and is launching a Premier Points website.

Initially the website will offer advice on spending points and a facility enabling customers to check their account balance, but by next year customers will be able to redeem their points online against selected offers.

The relaunch will be supported from November by radio advertising created by Ogilvy & Mather, as well as point-of-sale promotions.

Premier Points head Chris Penny says: “The loyalty market is very competitive and over the next one to two years my main objective is to ensure that we are up there with, if not above, the likes of Tesco Clubcard and Boots Advantage.”

Premier Points customers can collect points after spending money at partner businesses, which include BP, Southern Energy, Scottish Hydro and National Express.
