Arriva Trains launches comic-style passenger safety campaign

Arriva Trains Wales is launching a comic book-inspired ad campaign to encourage people to think about passenger safety. It will break over the Easter weekend and will run “indefinitely”.

The integrated campaign uses three characters – SuperTwerp, Rush Gordon and Wander Women – which are based on the DC Comics superheroes. The ads depict the characters behaving badly and the impact of their anti-social behaviour on other passengers. It has been created by marketing services agency, Communique 360.

According to Arriva, over 100 accidents are reported at stations every year but it estimates that there are many incidents that go unreported. The train operator says drinking too much, rushing and parents not taking responsibility for children have been identified as they key reasons for accidents and these are the main focus of the campaign.

Vanessa Schotes, head of marketing at Arriva Trains Wales, says: “We wanted to created an impactful campaign that highlights the types of behaviour that lead to accidents.”
