Arsenal TV to be shown on Virgin Media

Arsenal Football Club has won its battle to air its TV channel on Virgin Media, a month after urging fans to lobby the cable company. Virgin Media says the channel, which already airs on satellite, will be available from Tuesday.

The digital channel was launched in January with pay-TV sports broadcaster Setanta Sports but was not available on Virgin Media due to “capacity constraints”.

The North London football club appealed to fans to contact Virgin Media urging it to launch the channel (MW February 7). The cable company said it was working with Arsenal to resolve the issue and hoped to launch Arsenal TV “soon”.

It says the channel will be available free to Virgin Media XL TV customers from Tuesday and included as part of the Setanta Sports pack subscription. The channel airs five days a week, 11 hours a day. It was launched on satellite in January (MW August 9, 2007).
