Ashes to ashes, boom to bust, in Acdoco’s betting can we trust?

Sometimes marketers take a flyer or make an educated guess about a campaign and just keep their fingers crossed that the gamble pays off.

But washing powder company Acdoco looks like it is on a sticky wicket with its latest gimmick. The firm has backed the England cricket team to win the Ashes as part of a marketing drive for its Glo White brand, labelling Nasser Hussain’s men “a force to be reckoned with”.

The Diary thinks there is nothing wrong with a bit of national pride, but Acdoco have been caught out by the fact that England are now as far out as 16/1 to win the Second Test after being thrashed convincingly by the Aussies in the first match.
