Earlier this year, Ask Jeeves redesigned its homepage and began to offer brands more advertising opportunities as part of an ongoing strategy to focus on becoming the market leader in online Q&A.

Brands can now feature on the site’s “question of the day” and its brand ambassador butler Jeeves can be fully-customised to reflect advertising campaigns.

Mysinglefriend.com will place a fully-branded wraparound ad, featuring co-founder TV presenter Sarah Beeny, on the Ask Jeeves homepage on Valentine’s Day as part of the deal. Jeeves will be customised to hold a box of chocolates and the “question of the day” will be “why is Valentine’s Day a good time of year to be single?”.

The promotion forms part of a seven-day “Love Week”, commencing on 7 February, the first of several themed promotions lined up for later in the year. Further activity will include a RSPCA “cutest dogs” campaign and a Royal Wedding tie-up.

Ask Jeeves communications director Nadia Kelly says: “With our latest interactive designs there are many opportunities to team up with brands which fit well with the Ask Jeeves user profile, creating tailored sponsorship packages above and beyond straight advertising.”

Ask Jeeves UK is the fifth largest search engine in the UK with 1.95% of the market share. Google dominates with 83.44% of the market share across its websites, according to Experian Hitwise.
