Bacardi marketing chief to stand down

Stella David, Bacardi’s chief marketing officer, is to leave the company after 15 years. It is not clear if she has a job to go.

David, who is credited with spearheading the UK launch of Barcardi Breezer, became CMO in 2005, moving from her managing director role.

She joined the drinks maker in 1994 as marketing controller before moving on to be marketing director in 1999.

Bacardi marketing has focussed on live music in recent years. The brand signed a deal with dance music act Groove Armada to launch a file-sharing model in January.

Separately, Andrew Carter has been promoted to the role of managing director of Bacardi’s global travel retail division.

He steps up from his current job of global gin category director at Bacardi Global Brands and replaces Maurice Doyle who left last month to become group marketing director at William Grant & Sons.

Doyle replaced Steven Sturgeon who left in March.
