Barclay’s arm seeks digital agency for ‘online vision’

Firstplus, a division of high street banking giant Barclays, has called a review of its digital business. Incumbent E3 has been invited to repitch alongside a number of undisclosed agencies.

Internet strategy development director Nicola Hinds says the business is looking for a strategic digital partner to deliver its "ambitious online vision".

Celebrity mathematician Carol Vorderman has fronted the company’s advertising since 1998 and appears on its website and other marketing.

The financial services company was founded in 1997 and has more than 70,000 customers. Walker Media handles the media planning and buying. Direct marketing agency EHS Brann works on all offline advertising. Both agencies are on the Barclays marketing services roster.

Firstplus marketing director Chris Waring joined the business last December following the departure of director of marketing and CRM Alaric Churchill (MW June 23, 2005). Consultant Alida Maccietto handled marketing duties on an interim basis following his departure.
