Bauer names Parkinson head of London Radio

Bauer Media has appointed Steve Parkinson to the newly created role of managing director London Radio.

Parkinson, currently MD of the Kiss network, will be tasked with building audience reach and hours at Bauer’s London station’s Kiss and Magic.

The news of Parkinson’s appointment comes as the radio group announces that Mark Story, Bauer’s managing director of national brands, is to leave after 11 years to set up his own radio consultancy.

Story joined Bauer, then Emap, in 1998 and was responsible for launching Magic 105.4.

Parkinson joined the company in 2005 as marketing director for the radio portfolio in 2005 before becoming MD of Kiss in 2006.

Magic 105.4 retained its position as London’s number one commercial radio station, according to fourth quarter Rajars, with 1.99m listeners.
