Bauers Andria Vidler poached by EMI

Bauer Medias chief marketing officer Andria Vidler has been named president of EMI Music UK and Ireland.

Bauer Media’s chief marketing officer Andria Vidler has been named president of EMI Music UK and Ireland.

Vidler will take up the position in the summer and will report to David Kassler, EMI Music European president. She will be responsible for all EMI Music’s operations ion UK and Ireland.

She was appointed chief marketing officer for Bauer Media’s radio and magazine brands last March, stepping up from her role as managing director of Bauer’s Magic 105.4 radio station which she had held since 2005.

Prior to Bauer, she was managing director of London radio station Capital 95.8 as well as working at the BBC for six years, holding positions including head of business and marketing development at BBC Sport and head of marketing for BBC News.

Vidler joins EMI at a testing time for record companies as they grapple with falling physical music sales and illegal downloading. The company is owned by private equity group Terra Firma under the stewardship of chief executive Guy Hands.

Since taking over in 2007, Hands has embarked on a cost-cutting drive and indicated last year that he would allow brands to sponsor artists which provoked ire at the time from some of the company’s major artists including Coldplay, Robbie Williams and The Verve.

In January, EMI appointed Adam & Eve to promote some of its artists.
